The "Unofficial" Chris Walsh Fan Club

Vikings 41, Cardinals 21 - 1/10/99

Walsh had an overall solid performance today. He did miss his block on the opening kickoff, but managed a special teams tackle (fighting through a hold to do so) and some great blocking. He even ended up in a tussle that involved rolling around on the ground, but as the refs arrived to break up the discussion, Walsh popped up headed for the sideline clapping. As my brother observed, it was a true veteran move, be willing to toss off the gloves, but not draw a costly flag and hurt your team.

Late in the game, Walsh got in on a couple of offensive snaps. The first play he wanted to block someone to the ground, but all who were near him would not take him on.

Walsh once again played cover for the game ending kneel down.

I seem to be making my way through the legion of Crish Walsh fans. Before the game as I was hanging my "Chris Walsh Fan Club" banner, a woman asked about the banner. She explained how much she likes Walsh and his endzone cheerleading and for pointing up to her section. After the game, I went down to ask a guy where he got his authentic Walsh jersey. I've seen him at a few games and after such a great game, I was wound up enough to go bug a stranger (it's really not in my nature). He explained his Dad knew someone with the Vikings and that his jersey is the exact same size that Walsh wears. Later, on my way to the upper deck to retrieve my banner (and still wound up), I noticed a woman talking to a group of people who had on that "Chris Walsh Fan Club" T-Shirt that I have mentioned here before (she sits near my section). I mentioned this web page and showed her my hat (a Viking hat with "Walsh 81" embroidered on the side) and asked about her shirt. She explained she's Chris's sister and they had a bunch of them made up. I gave her the URL to this website, hopefully she will stop by. She also mentioned she had thought to make website for her brother, which I would assume would be the "official" website. Good thing I've always used the "unoffical" label! (My mom thinks "unauthorized" would be even more amusing).

This is a 'fan site' and is not endorsed by Chris Walsh, the Minnesota Vikings or the National Football League. Heck, my Mom doesn't endorse this place.
