The "Unofficial" Chris Walsh Fan Club

Vikings 28, Packers 14 - 11/22/98

Man, if you sold your ticket to a packer fan, you sure missed out. Once again, our man Walsh was very active. He got in on two special teams tackles, although the first mostly involved backing into the guy. Style points don't count anyway. Even when he didn't make the tackle, Walsh tended to be the first guy down the field, especially on punt overages. It seems that Berger makes sure he doesn't kick it straight down field and Walsh just runs up the middle and flys by on either side the one guy who is supposed to block him. On one occasion, Walsh ran up the middle untouched down the field. I'm thinking it's time for a fake.

Mitch Berger is having a pro bowl year, which is hurting Walsh statistically. Only one of Berger's kick offs was returned. Apparently those snickers do satisfy. Most punts on the day were fair catches as well.

Walsh got wide receiver duties for the last play run, which was a run up the middle. Cris Carter reclaimed his cover position for the following two kneel downs.

A friend of mine told me Walsh has a radio promo running on 93X, a Minneapolis radio station.

After the game I was told Walsh was seen pumping up the crowd on TV. If you have never been to the dome, you cannot really understand what an end zone favorite Chris Walsh is. It is possible many people don't even know who he is, yet they all respond when he comes running full speed to the end zone before a kickoff. Actually, he tends to be running full speed whenever he is moving. He is one of the first out of the tunnel, he's running full speed. He's the first on the field for special teams... again running.

I did see a guy with a T-Shirt that had some writing on the back that had a big "Walsh" on it. I have no idea if this was Chris Walsh fan club shirt that my brother spotted. He was sitting in section 117, down near the field. Is that you? Email me.
