The "Unofficial" Chris Walsh Fan Club

Vikings 48, Bears 22 - 12/6/98

You Can't Stop Him, You Can Only Hope To Contain Him

The Catch!Yeah, Randy Moss might have had three touchdowns, but Chris Walsh caught his second pass of the season. Cunningham connected with Walsh on a second and 22 play for 25 yards and the first down. It was Walsh's longest catch of his NFL career. Walsh had caught a similar pass the play before, but it was nullified by a holding call.

With Cris Carter and Jake Reed out, Walsh got extensive playing time on offense. For much of the first half, Walsh handled the slot receiver position as well as punt coverages.

Looks like I picked the perfect week to bring my Chris Walsh Fan Club banner. Did you see it?

Once again, Walsh proved great players make great plays without the football. Randy Moss made a catch over the middle,Nasty eluded his pursuers and headed for the sideline. Walsh delivered one of his well known blocks to a Chicago Bear that actually injured both the defensive player and Walsh. Walsh shook it off, the Bears needed an injury time out.

Walsh found himself open throughout the first half and should have had a touchdown catch, but a defensive player for the Bears got away with pass interference.

It was fortunate Walsh was in on offense today, as the special teams life was not kind to him today. Walsh received a personal foul face mask call for 15 yards called against him. On the re-kick, Walsh was just laid out flat from a crushing blow. To his credit, he popped right back up to go put his two cents in at the pileup. Later in the game, someone kocked him over and actually kicked him while he was down. The officials appearently felt it wasn't worth a flag.

I checked the online versions of the Star Tribune and the Pioneer Press. The Pioneer Press didn't have any mention of Walsh, so I am calling for an immediate boycott of the Pioneer Press. Undoubtedly the financial impact from the lack of subscriptions by the enormous legion of Chris Walsh fans will turn the tide.

Ripped off from the Tribune:

Post catch stare"We have a system here," wide receiver Chris Walsh said. "We've got more depth now than we've ever had. We never miss a beat; guys go right in and they fill the void. The train keeps moving."

So get out of the way.

On the Vikings' next possession, on second-and-22, Cunningham dropped back and hit Walsh for 25 yards to the Chicago 31. It was the longest reception in Walsh's six-year career.

"It's unfortunate guys get hurt," Walsh said. "In the same sense, guys have to step up and do just as well or better than the guy who got hurt."

My Mom reported that she saw a fan with an actual Chris Walsh Jersey. I still can't locate one.

This is a 'fan site' and is not endorsed by Chris Walsh, the Minnesota Vikings or the National Football League. Heck, my Mom doesn't endorse this place.
