The "Unofficial" Chris Walsh Fan Club

Vikings 17, Falcons 14 - 9/12/99

It was one of those games that kept me out of my seat. The same gene I inherited from my Mom that draws me to the Vikings includes the need to pace during tight games. More than once my Mom has decided she needs a diet coke or smoke break at the dome just so she can get up out of her seat and pace up and down the aisle.

The offense was bogged down at times, but did manage two touchdowns and a few shots at field goals (making one). Of course the offensive story of the game is Chris Walsh getting half way to reaching his total catch count from last year. Walsh grabbed a third down pass for 6 yards. It was third and long, but Walsh had to cut his route short due to a Falcon blitz. Walsh would have equaled last year's total receptions had his first quarter nab counted. The problem seems to stem from it was a Chris Chandler pass and Walsh was standing on the sidelines.

Walsh came in on a few plays, apparently replacing Jake Reed, yet Reed was back in the game late in the fourth.

The special teams unit has to be extremely proud of their performance. Berger shocked all in attendence at my humble abode by booming his kickoffs 5-6 yards into the endzone. The Falcon's kickoff return man, Tim Dwight, was determined to run back a kick. He kept coming out of the endzone with the ball. The first two times he just got hammered, the third time Robert Griffith forced a fumble which a diving Mitch Berger recovered.

This is a 'fan site' and is not endorsed by Chris Walsh, the Minnesota Vikings or the National Football League. Heck, my Mom doesn't endorse this place.
